Since its inception in April 2011, Sublime Boudoir: Seduction of Senses has brought audiences elegant burlesque, cabaret, and circus performances in fantastical settings, while entertaining the senses with unconventional visuals and signature cuisines.
Founded with the intention of highlighting well-known performers as well as up-and-coming artists, Sublime Boudoir provides a collaborative creative environment for industry professionals. The company seeks to redefine and challenge traditional ideals of the industry by combining burlesque with complementary artistic mediums. Painstaking research and attention to detail provide audiences with an immersive and multidimensional experience, Seduction of Senses.

Constructing annual events on a global level, the creative team represents a vast range of cultural histories and perspectives, from Europe to Indonesia to North America. They have travelled the world in search of inspiration and the most exciting new performance artists. Complemented by breath-taking floral design, music, and cuisine, every production epitomizes luxurious elegance, underlined by cabaret’s signature playful humor.

Amsterdam

Beginning with a dazzling launch in Amsterdam, 2011, Sublime Boudoir treated guests to a four-day event, appealing to a different sensory experience; Seduction of Senses took place in a separate venue every night, each event inspired by the personality of its surroundings. More than 35 performers were featured, culminating in a spectacular gala evening in Amsterdam’s historic Koepelkerk.

London

Sublime Boudoir’s London appearance was an unprecedented venture for the company, held in the logistically-challenging Old Vic Tunnels. Audiences embarked on a journey from the opulence of 1920’s London to the glittering markets and theaters of Old Shanghai. More than 200 staff transformed 25,000 square-feet of bare event space, featuring more than 30 performers on five stages, hundreds of thousands of flowers, three art installations, lavish sets, and custom costume designs from Alston Stephanus Accessories, Jakarta.

Las Vegas

Sublime Boudoir has been a proud sponsor for the annual Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender Event at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. A four-night event, Sublime Boudoir transformed the traditional after parties into whimsical worlds of wonder.

New York

Embarking on their grandest endeavor thus far, for one weekend Sublime Boudoir at Alder Manor in Yonkers, New York brought to life the 34,000 square foot Victorian mansion, complete with a swimming pool on the second floor. The theme told the story of death and rebirth. It was by far the most immersive event, allowing guests to wander the fully decorated halls and rooms to discover what ominous energy the house contained. Alder Manor was like the pages of a book, and the host and performers narrated the story, supported by the incredibly themed food, floral, set, and lighting design. This event was truly magical.

Key Creatives

Alston Stephanus – Executive Producer & Director

Alston is the Founder of Sublime Boudoir and has a great appreciation and love for burlesque and the greater community of circus and cabaret. His inspiration comes from nature and animals; how they co-exist in balance with time. Concepts for each show grow from past experiences he shares with members of the Team as well as other encounters. Alston is also a well-known luxury accessories designer. His work has been featured in Artist, Mizuno Junko’s interpretation of the Japanese 7 Lucky Gods at Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles, Vogue Italia, and Drew Magazine.

Kayleigh Rodriguez – Producer & Assistant Director

Kayleigh has been with Sublime Boudoir since its inception in 2011, working together with Alston Stephanus and the rest of the Team, they strive to redefine immersive events while paying homage to the cabaret legacy. As Sublime Boudoir evolves and grows, new aspects are added, in 2017 a written story component by Kayleigh was incorporated. Kayleigh is also an independent filmmaker living in West Hollywood. She is currently working on a documentary with Italian director Elisa Motta.  The film focuses on the performative nature of gender and burlesque’s inherent connection to caricature and 2-D image.

Brenda Lee Monteiro – Floral & Set Design Director

Brenda and her Singapore based company Fiore Dorato are unrivaled in many aspects of floral design on an international level. Brenda has 20+ years of experience and she is a member of the American Institute for Floral Designers. Inspired by European design, she draws her aesthetic from French, Belgian and Dutch influences, while maintaining a South East foundation. This truly allows her audience to be transported into the worlds she has creates.

Sean Mooney – Production Manager

Sean has been with Sublime Boudoir since their inaugural show in Amsterdam, 2012. He has an extensive background in UK theatre, working with many respected companies, including; The Young Vic, Cheek by Jowl, The London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT) and The Royal Shakespeare Company. He has also been Production Manager for many high profile events and produced a number of critically acclaimed variety shows in London’s West End, including a series of ‘Pop-up’ cabaret’s ‘…at The Tiger’s Rear’, consistently ‘Critic’s Choice’ in Time Out. As Creative Director, Sean has had success with a number of shows, including; ‘An Evening of Burlesque’, the internationally acclaimed burlesque theatre show and ‘DIXEY’, a male burlesque review which premiered at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014.

Mackenzie Hussman – Creative Marketing Executive & Prop Master

Mackenzie has been with Sublime Boudoir since the beginning, every year she aims to market the show in a fresh and creative direction. Concentrating on the local community as well as encouraging others to travel to the show, she puts Sublime Boudoir’s ethos into action. In addition, Mackenzie enjoys working directly with Brenda on prop selection. Mackenzie also markets for the arts, focused on bringing artists’ work into gallery spaces. In her spare time, she volunteers for the Stonewall Democratic Club of Los Angeles and Co-Host’s their monthly Stonewall Spotlight Podcast.
